looking at the mustangs on autotrader, i reckon mine is well up there for the money i want, but has anyone ever bought or sold a yank from autotrader? its not that cheap, so i want to be sure that its not a complete waste of time before i place the add..

on the plus side i reckon i can price it at the full amount i want, as the other stangs on there for that sort of money are generally older and not as nice..

1996 50,000 miles, Ipod head unit, MOT till march tax till april.

car will be supplied with a year MOT and a service, no expense has been spared in the maintenance of this vehicle, and it is in immaculate condition.

this car has had the head gasket issue sorted professionally (not cheap) unlike many others, NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THAT WITH THIS CAR!!!! trans shifts smooth with no shudder, new A/C compressor, strut brace from a GT, wheels from a 98 GT, few other sensible mods such as K&N air filter and billet aluminium heater controls and headlight switch, really good looking car..

£3995 o.v.n.o.

ok, so i fitted the AC compressor, and got the system gassed...

2 minor flaws.. the belt tensioner bearing has now gone, and the AC still doesn't work, looks like the low pressure switch is fooked..

and there is a mystery squeak from the right rear just started...

and i still dont think its running right..

General Banter / and the mustang continues to be a PITA
January 24, 2008, 06:35:55 PM
got a slight problem that just wont go away...

from cold, the car starts perfectly, moves away perfectly and runs fine. about 3 mins into the drive, if you have to stop, moving away the car has no power for about 1/2 second, then pulls away perfectly.

after it has done this once, it wont do it again until the next cold start.

on advice, i have changed the coolant temp sensor, this has improved matters slightly, but not cured it, however it has only done about 25 miles on the new sensor, will it take time to 'learn' new values? the tail pipe was a bit sooty, this seems to have stopped with the new CTS

i also have new o2 sensors to fit, but it was my understanding they only come into operation when the exhaust has reached a certain temp..

i have changed the HT leads, to no avail.

before and after the flat spot, the car runs perfectly.. reckon it could be the o2 sensors? they are the origional ones...

-edit- fuel consumption *seems* to have improved with the new CTS, but its too early to tell for sure..

General Banter / D'oh... shouldn't have done that....
January 12, 2008, 02:35:53 PM
todays mistake....

leaving the keys in the mustang while it was having a valet at the immigrant wash.. unusualy i decided to have the interior done as well, and didn't give a second thought to leaving the keys hanging in the ignition so they could move it..

blokey doing the interior wiped over the door cars, where the switches are, knocking the lock button.

then shut the doors..

on the plus side i was able to work out how to break into a mustang without damaging it... on the downside i now know how easy it would be for a professional..

General Banter / Badge snobbery bites early...

Quoting: "some newspaper"
it pains me to report that badge snobbery bites early. Indeed it seems that even at pedal car level, a BMW brings out the worst in a driver - the sulks, petulance, rage and road-hoggery associated with "the blue one" had to be seen to be believed.

Important Announcements / Christmas drink drive blitz..
December 21, 2007, 12:09:26 PM
the police across most counties are aiming their random breath tests in the mornings rather than evenings this year.

apparently most people are sensible enough to get a cab home after a night on the booze, but often still drive the following morning (i think almost everyone is guilty of that at least once)

due to the increasing strength of beers, and larger spirit and wine measures being served, it takes far less than people realise to be over the limit.

after 4 pints of higher strength (5%) beer, it can take up to 13 hours for it to be clear of your system, and just 2 pints can easily put you over the limit. a pint of beer has now been upgraded to 3 units.

General Banter / supermarket fuel...
December 18, 2007, 01:20:44 PM
had noticed the fuel economy had dropped off on the stang, on the trip to belgium it averaged just 26mpg, and on the last tank of mixed driving it averaged 21..both times i had filled up with tesco petrol several times, so the concentration of supermarket fuel in the tank was 100%

the last 3 tanks i have filled up at BP stations, a whopping 1p per liter more expensive.. on the last tank i did an economy test again, mixed driving, some motorway, quite a bit of urban and a run to MK and back.. result? 28.1mpg (without trying)

incidently my best ever of 36mpg was achieved on a motorway trip running on BP ultimate..
