final score after injury time and stuff....

Wabbit 1 - Mustang 0

on the way back from MK last night, i was proceding down portway at a healthy clip, when caught in the headlights was ol buggs..

eep, i thought, so i positioned myself so that bugs would pass harmlessly under the car...

Turns out there is a problem with this

the air dam under a mustang is less than 1 bunny off the ground.  Furthermore, to compound the problem, the clips that secure it are rated at less than one bunny

To further compund this problem, it is apparently impossible to hear the now virtualy detached airdam scraping along the road..

the result? when at work today, i notice an airdam hanging on by the skin of its teeth, somewhat smashed, and with a huge diaganol champher across it where it wore away on the road! its re attached now, but it looks bloody horrible..

grumble..

well, its time to start getting interest on the staples to naples front....

so for those of you who forget what were driving, here it is... 1500 miles to naples taking in the alps and venice en route..

thisi s the first yank ever enterd, so we would like to make a big impression.

what we need is ideas for our nominated charity, so have a think, and sugest a charity, we are each going to choose one, and then pull it out of a hat..

stolen from pistonheads..

The following is cut from an internal news letter on our intranet (we're an vehicle finance company).

So, a RHD Camaro - woohoo!

"All future Chevrolets to be built as RHD models
ALL Chevrolet cars will be developed as world cars in future - and they'll be available in right-hand drive.

General Motors has restructured its product development for the brand, so different global technical centres will have responsibilities for different platforms. This means future Chevrolets will be developed all over the world, including Europe, with less reliance on the GM-Daewoo technical centre in Korea.

However, the decision comes too late for the retro-styled HHR mini-MPV. This US-built car was launched in Europe at the Geneva Motor Show, but as it's only built in left-hand drive it won't be coming to Britain. However, GM has confirmed that the new Camaro muscle car will be built in right-hand drive form, which makes UK sales as an image-leader for the brand a distinct possibility.

The first products of the new structure will be replacements for the Kalos and Lacetti models. These will be developed in Korea, which has responsibility for the C platform, and future Vauxhall Astras will share underpinnings. (Newspress: March 8)."

General Banter / post your MPG
March 10, 2007, 07:54:06 AM
last tank (trying BP ultimate unleaded)

31.25 mpg

403 km (250 miles), used 36 liters (8 gallons on the nose), this included an hour in stationary traffic, thrashing round brum looking for the MOT station and the car sat idling for some considerable time at the MOT station. rest of the driving was motorway at 80 ish, and a trip across bedford town center.

General Banter / dagnammit... lazyness costs me...
March 09, 2007, 07:21:45 AM
well, normaly when i go to tesco i go as far away from other cars as possible, but  today, i nipped in for about 10 mins, i chose a space close to the front door, and there was no car beside me..

fast forward 15 mins, and as i walk towards my car, a car has just left the space beside me, a small 4 door MPV type car.

sure enough, right in the middle of the rear 1/4 there is a f**king door dent

ho hum, time to call the paintless dent removal people.....

for anyone changing tranny fluid in a mustang 3.8

if you have a low milage mustang 3.8 and are changing the tranny fluid for the first time, this could save you a lot of panic..

when you drop the pan, and pour the oil away, a plastic part may be left in the pan, its about an inch long, and shaped like a mushroom, with an o ring on it..

dont panic and spend an hour trying to figure out where it came from, its a dust bung fitted to the hole where the dip stick tube is fitted, when the tube is installed before the trans goes into the car, they just punt it into the pan using the dipstick itself, and its removed and discarded when the tranny fluid is changed for the first time...
