Guys, not good at this as I've never done it, but I need, yes need, one of these as I suck at holding my new born!

It is $30 in the U.S, no idea on shipping here, or £35.99 PLUS P&P of £5.99 from UK, and I don't even want the green one, I want the pink or blue.

Anyone know what I can do?

Also, as this is a car forum, I have posted a wiked pic...

Well before shipping the US one is £19 approx and the UK one is £41.98 inc shipping.

So if the shipping for the US is no more than 37 USD then you are quids in.

Funny thing is though you'll probably get them delivered around the same timescale :)

I am using 1.6 conversion rate as that's what it was yesterday when I ordered stuff from the US :)

Thanks, sounds about what I thought. What about when some people mention the issues with customs and they suddenly pay more? Could that happen though?

I know it is only a few quid, but it is info I would remember for next time too

Customs depends largely on how it's sent.  Any courier service will definitely get it, as will any USPS service above standard mail (ones that involve a tracking service)

In these cases the actual taxes won't be too high, but you'll get stung by the couriers rip-off admin fee for dealing with customs on your behalf, and this would definitely make it more expensive than if you'd bought over here.

Plus you've also got to see if the seller will ship internationally.  A lot won't (and I'd be surprised of Toys'R'Us would), and most of those that do will insist on a service with tracking - leading to the customs charges.

Go careful - IMHO, for such a low cost item it's not worth importing.

buy it on ebay dude, or from a store over here, it's not worth the hassle sometimes to save a fiver...

that particular brand seems to be american though, there aren't many places that sell that over here.

id go with the ebay ne personally :)

EDGE

failing that, just cut a slit in a normal cusion, poke babies legs inside and TADA.... instant baby cusion

Errr, the bank rate is currently $1.436 /£ so I don't know how the hell your managing that...

You'll most likely get a rate of $1.38 to $1.39 per £

Well before shipping the US one is £19 £21.74 approx and the UK one is £41.98 inc shipping.

So if the shipping +VAT +Duty +Shipping Company Admin Fees for the US is no more than 37 28 USD then you are quids in.

I'm so sorry, but I was only quoting what I was charged yesterday when I ordered some suspension bits for my Fiero - in fact it was 1.568 or close too :)

The total for the bits and shipping was $116 and the amount that was taken from my bank was £73.98.

Also if the item is under a certain amount - it usually misses customs anyway and you avoid VAT, Duty and shipping company admin fees!!!! :)

But like has been said - is it worth the small amount of savings - just buy from eBay or similar from somewhere over here ;)

Wasn't having a pop, I just found it extremly unlikely that anyone would give that rate...

Out of interest, how much were that parts without shipping?

And who's your bank so I can open an account...

a91_formula

the parts came to $72
shipping was $44

Good thing though - the parts are already in the UK ;)
There has got to be a problem when parcels get delivered from the US quicker than they do from the UK
