"If you haven't seen this yet it's a video of some folks that were hired by the city of Barcelona to help remove pigeons from the city and thus reduce the flying rat's fecal impact on buildings and landmarks. And this is how they do it"

President of the Association for the Defence of Animals, (ADDA) argued: "It's cruel and in the end it will do nothing to curb the pigeon population."

They argue that extermination methods only result in the pigeons laying more eggs to compensate.

"If a quarter of the population is killed then within two years it will return to original density in a rebound effect."

The charity is instead calling for special lofts to be installed to encourage the birds to roost and where the population can be controlled by taking away newly laid eggs and putting fake ones in their place.

In that case kill more than 25% then

Or a shrinking one, Predator style!

How can it be cruel, he fed them first.

So, using ADDAs questioable logic, if exterminating them encourages them to produce more eggs, then it follows that the same will happen if you replace fertile eggs with duds?

Pidgeons aren't the smartest creatures in the world but when it comes to following the rules of evolution they are up there with the rest of us. If a hen lays a batch of dud eggs she will abandon them and, being a little feathery slut, will find a cockbird and start again.

Net them, remove them, gas them. Or better still, net them, poison them with heavy doses of strychnine and then feed the corpses to stray cats straight away
