Motorama

Sorry peeps been away a few days - so good to have some experiences to refer to.

How does the NCB thing work with 2nd motors? I've got 16 years on my main motor and had the Camaro for a couple of years without claiming anything - can I build up no claims on the 2nd motor automatically or would that depend on the policy allowing it? Does anyone know?

Roadkill

Yank policies don't normally build-up no claims . . . .

I'm with Competition Car Insurance for the camaro and the pickup. Bearing in mind what the camaro is capable of, my insurance for that is around £320pa fully comp on a limited mileage, 5000 pa, and a guaranteed value of £40k

They'll insure just about anything not just competition vehicles

They weren't so keen on my Camaro - value of £5kish, mileage of 5000 fully comp their best was £560!

Went with Flux in the end - £390 for 5k mileage pa, Euro cover, driving other cars, windscreen and audio cover, legal protection and building up NCB on the car too. More than last year but the best deal I could get. Cheers for the recommendations peeps.

How many of you are on a modified car policy? (and if so, with who?)

I'll be trying CCI in a minute, but other options would be good.

Pod

Well, CCI gave me a quote, which is more than most have done so far. It's still not exactly cheap.
It would work towards NCB which most 'classic' car policies don't.

Not American, but commercial, Adrian Flux.

Last year, £800 with another company, this year, adrian flux, £360

Pod

God damn Adrian Flux!

Filled in their web form, making sure everything was correct.
Got an email back saying the provisional cost would be about 280 quid.

Result! So I phone them up.

They asked a few questions to confirm various things. One of which was to confirm it was a second car. Erm, no. I filled in the box which specifically asked that and said it was the only car.

Oh well, said the man on the phone, that will increase the premium quite a lot... Couple of minutes later, he comes back and says it's now going to be 1100!

That's a hell of a difference!
Even worse, I asked why the email came back with such a low quote, despite me filling in the correct answers.
"Oh, the system changes some of the details you fill in so we can give you a cheaper quote."

You what?! Aaaarrrrgghhhh!

I never use the online forms, they don't find my trucks reg number

Competition Car Insurance

Just called them and - according to the lady I spoke to - they only cover "competition" cars and two-seater non-competition cars.

So a strong posibility for the Camaro when she's finished but not for my latest vehicle.
