Roadkill

That looks like damp course there . . . you use that within a wall at the damp-proof height.

DPM is basically very, very thick polyethene - normally blue or green - Have a look back in my "Uber garage extension" thread - there's a bit in there where I use DPM on top of the slab, but under the deck.

If this is just for casting a step and protecting the wooden frame (IIRC?) any thick polyethene will do . . . If you give me some dimensions I can almost certainly get you an off cut of DPM from home.

That would be most awesome as the only other 'small' length of green DPM is £30!

If you wouldn't mind dude, an off-cut of what you have there would save me some cash - especially as it is just a small section I'm doing.

If you don't mind shipping it I'll obviously Pay Pal you the shipping fee and enough to cover a few beers - you deserve a drink after all the remote help you've given me

From memory, 1000 x 300mm would do it, with enough spare incase I screw it up

Thanks to RK for the help and DPM (no not double penetration!! ). I made a start building the step.

It looks a bit more like a step than the garage one, it was way easier to get flat making the mix more watery working within the shuttering!

I used some real big shingle / hardcore to build it up, then a mix of 50/50 cement and sharp sand. I could have probably used a much higher mix of sharp sand to cement Something like a 3 to 1 It's solid though!

Ran out of cement for the top section, will finish that off when I can. Door needs a clean / paint from where it rained after putting the first layer of concrete down and it splashed the door
