Got an e-mail from USless this morning showing their on line vin ordering system

Only clicked on a few options but it seems to give a wide choice of parts and enables you to compare the different brand prices

Not bad, but most of the groups are empty for mine

Edit, no they are there, but they don't always appear properly.

i got that email too, the VIN info was handy, but i'll still order direct from the States unless i'm desperate

And even if I'm desperate I'll still order from the states . . . My spark plugs took 2 days to arrive from the states and cost less than half - including shipping - what US Auto wanted to charge . . . . On top of that do I think US Auto would've got them to me within two days ? . . . Based on previous orders - No, they woldn't have !

i like to support local companies but sometimes you just cant when the prices are so far apart

i enquired about 2 plastic interior handles yesterday for the Suburban from Bauer Millet, they wanted £72 plus carriage. I bought the pair from the States for $20!

Even though my yank is a daily driver.

Admittedly I only live 3 miles from work and can normally borrow a company pool car

For example a pair of headlight bulbs at USlessAutomotive  £67!!

(very quick google search) US $36 from amazon.com for identical bulbs

Things have come along well for internet ordering in the last year or so.

I've noticed that USAutos have moved more towards newer stuff and more frequently don't have the stuff I need.  JWR seem to have more stuff in stock.

I'll always try both these and usually go for them if they have stock, unless they are too overpriced.  For my daily driver, most times I need something, I need it NOW, not in two weeks.  If I have to wait, I'll wait for the cheaper option.

We all ways use Rock Autos in the USA and have never had any problems with them (Touching wood as i type Lol) Last thing I got from them was a electric window motor for Dragons(Wendy's) Camaro which inc shipping worked out at about £39 and had it in under a week where as most of the company's I phoned in the uk wanted around the £120-£140 not including vat and delivery times varied from 2-4 weeks ..I think in all the time we have had American cars I have never got any thing from a uk yank motor-factors....Bulbs I tend to get from local places like Euro car parts and the like and oil etc. etc.
