Not too surprised about them TBH.  A few others I thought might have been included though.

I thought that was a bit left field as well! Surprised so many Corvettes were in there. Wonder what the Mustang/Camaro figures stack up like, unless they're not considered sports cars...

1990 was a bad year for the Camaro!

Even the 4th Gen in 1998 failed to rescue sales, looking at the 29,009 sold in 2001 makes you realise why they pulled the plug in 2002

Looks like the 3rd gen maro sold 1,185,000 cars between 84 and 92 whereas the fox Mustang sold 1,400,000 in the same period.

Of course you should really add the firebird numbers to the Camaro as it's the same car and you're just competing with yourself really...

So from 98 onwards is when the Camaro really deviated away from the Mustang and of course they killed it.  Prior o that the graphs were pretty similar really.
So it's the facelift 4th gen that was the cause of the problem|

I'd definately question the times of the cars at the very top of that 1.4 mile list...
10.5 stock my arse...

wikipedia...

Also in 1968, Chrysler made approximately 50 fastback Barracudas equipped with the 426 cu in (7.0 L) Hemi for Super Stock drag racing.[2] These cars were assembled by Hurst Performance and featured lightweight items such as lightweight Chemcor  side glass, fiberglass front fenders, and hood with scoop, lightweight seats, and sound deadener and other street equipment such as rear seats omitted. An included sticker indicated that the car was not for use on public roads; it could run the quarter-mile in the mid-10s in 1968.[2]

sounds a lot like the ford thunderbolt, not really a road car, just a marketing exercise...

there's nothing stock about a stock car....

no big surprise the Mk1 MX5 being no 1..

Camaro / Firebird / Mustangs are not really sports cars, I'd say they were muscle / pony cars.

Firebird (Trans Am) = SCCA Trans Am Series

there is a racing series for trucks too, but that dont make em sports cars either!

the most honest to god sports car available right now? probably the Lotus Elise.

light, agile, quick, pin sharp, and built purely for the enjoyment of driving with no concessions to practicality.
