I now have a brake pipe with a seized nipple ( Oh arr Vicar ) !

Managed to get the brake pipe off the car by taking it off attached to the rear wheel cylinder, which has taken over an hour

Brake pipe :

Free OK end :

Seized end :

Before I can refit the pipe I need to free the nipple without buggering the very flimsy pipe, what are your  best ideas ????????????

NB : I've tried a bucket load of WD40 and rocking it backwards and forwards without success, the pipe looks and feels as flimsy as Aluminium

If it breaks I'll have get a new one made up at the weekend

Been considering gentle heating it on the cooker, but as I said it's well flimsy

Your welcome

Just been for a test drive down the main 40 mph road and I didn't die

Summary started at 17:00pm and finished after the test drive at 21:30pm.

Wasted 1/2 an hour just getting the handbrake cable off the shoe arm.

Wasted at least 1 hour taking the brake pipe off, but I was damn skill full and/or lucky to get it off without shearing the seized nipple.

Total cost £13.92 for the brake cylinder and an unreasonable £32.40 for a set of rear brake shoes ( both sides ).

So that's £46.32 total plus the litre or so of brake fluid that I already had in the F Body stores and the satisfaction of doing the job yourself, rather than paying a garage a couple of hundred pounds

Andy

Bang tidy!

Couldn't offer any advice as I've never done that, but it looks like you have that job licked!

Now.....

What ever breaks or falls off next week

Trying to nurse the tyres into lasting till after Christmas,
I decided not to actually measure the tread depth on the nearside rear last night
