I'm on a tablet right now and can confirm the quoting on this forum doesn't work, I usually end up using the '@' as above.

It isn't really the tablet's fault though as the forum software isn't set-up to accomidate them. The forum needs you to select text to used the quote function, but when you select text using a touch screen tablet, it isn't making that selection available back to the forum, it's keeping that selection information on the tablet only.
