Not having much luck...

Another tail of woe from me... this one happened just up the road from my deer incident. Had a driver drift onto my side of the road, I turned away as far as I could, taken my mirror off clean.

He was well over my side of the road, if I hadn't moved, I probably wouldn't be typing this now, and I'd be missing more than just a mirror.

Swung my car around as they didn't stop and gave chase. Followed them on to a single car width road, grounded out the front of my car following them which has fooked the bumper more than the deer did.

Lost sight of them, but found the car abandoned, interior light on, still warm. Rang the police. Three panda cars and a dog unit, dog traced it to the workshop unit it was parked next to but they couldn't do anymore than that. The car is insured to a company at that unit, but the registered owners address is about 25 miles away.

Been given the RO address and name, but waiting to hear what the police come up with. They are impounding the car and someone will want it back as it is loaded up with tools.

I'm just getting a little fed up now, as I've now had two non-fault accidents in my car, within spitting distance of each other. Also caught between a rock and a hard place as to whether I claim for the mirror. The bumper being knackered is my fault so will have to address that later.

Fooking hell mate, let's hope it's not third time lucky

I think you need to move mate...

That blows, hardly worth claiming for mirror I expect, probably cheaper to buy a whole door from a scrap yard

Probably very high. Dog tracked straight to the door, but they couldn't see any sign of life inside.

Either way, they're now without a car until they go down the nick and ask for it back. But they'll have some questions to answer.

I did go back to where I got hit this morning, picked up what pieces I could of mine, some bits actually look salvageable. I also found their wing mirror case, so that should be further proof if its needed, either matching it up by paint or by the make and model.

Roadkill

That sucks.

Let's hope the old bill catch up with them eventually . . .

wow not good mate, really does suck - hope you get it all sorted OK

Well no word from the old bill, to be honest, don't expect to hear anything.

BUT

Got a chance to go over the car properly this morning. Not as bad as I first thought and all now repaired.

Had my new wing mirror delivered yesterday and fitted that, nice and simple. Have put the old cover on it for now, but dropped off the new one off at a painter down the road who's already doing some bits for me.

The bumper was hanging off of the fender, looking at it it's held up with plastic rawl plugs, when these were pulled out they'd pulled done the metal with them. Ended up stripping out the wheel liner which gave me better access with the hammer, bashed it all straight again, then tapped the plugs back in and offered it up.

Did have to repair the wheel arch liner which also bit the bullet and wasn't helping drag the bumper down.

Its a bit of a crazy way of repairing it, but its bloody strong and simple to do.

All back together just needing a clean!

nice work

i like the ''red stitches''...

tie wraps have to be used when repairing underbody plastics

Even though I was given the details by the police, they told me not to do anything until they'd dealt with them. As I haven't heard anything I don't know whether to or not. As yet its cost me £50 for a new mirror unit. Will chase them up Monday.

eta: I did ring them Wednesday but said the crime reports take up to 5 days to be filled.
