Or may be the other way around

I put Diesel in my Ducati last year, which L blamed on the Total Garage Diesel pump nozzle being coloured blue

Anyway don't feel so bad about it, it can even happen to a President

Not yet but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I put Diesel in the Mustang.

Diesel nozzles are bigger than unleaded nozzles aren't they ?

I'd say unleaded in a diesel was more likely.

But I've never done either.

Are indeed, have a look next time at the forecourt.

Suppose its very easy on a bike as you just have a large hole for the fuel cap.

The Focus has a 'smart fuel' thing that means it won't let you open the fuel flap with out the right nozzle being inserted... oh er missus! Does mean that if you want to fill up from a jerry can you have to use a special adapter, but piece of mind that no one has ever cocked up putting the wrong fuel in.

Petrol in a diesel car is worse than the other way around. Diesel injector pumps dont like petrol, it eats the seals in the pumps and causes expensive damage if run for too long

I did it once about 10 years ago, at that time most garages had different colour hoses/nozzles for each fuel. Pulled up at a pump and went by the colour but as it was a smaller independant fuel company the colours wee different. Luckily i realised before i started the vehicle and was able to get it recovered by the RAC to a mates garage and the tank drained. Didnt cost too much, apart from a wasted tank of fuel

Two gallons of Diesel wasted and another two gallons of petrol to swish around the tank to rinse the Diesel out

for the win
