Um, what heat shield?

It's slightly smaller than the old one, so it will that bit further away from the exhaust pipe.

The smaller, more compact starters are prone, from what I gather, to cooking.

(I'm talking on the Third gens, here, of course, but I'd guess the exhausts on the Mussie took a similar course.)

It doesn't take much, just a folded plate to deflect some of the heat . . . but as I say, Mussies may have a little more room maybe and may not need them ???
