I Found this AACNW thread linked from the AVO forum and thought it might be a good idea to link it here too, If you're insured with MCE (Like me) its worth a Read!  It concerns a really bad Vette Crash and some very Lucky (Initially) occupants.  Glad they're ok!

Wow, an insurance company thats dragging its heels - who'd ever of thought that was possible.

I continue to be constantly amazed at Joe Publics passion for believing that every insurance company will immediately get everything right first time. I wonder how many of the people involved in that thread get their jobs right each and every time.

Rule of Life #63 - if involved in a potential write off situation always, always engage your own loss adjuster; it will save you a lot more than it costs.

Me?, I'm perfect and never get anything wrong - well, I did once; I thought I'd made a mistake but turns out I hadn't.

In this case it doesn't seem to be the insurance company but the broker ?
Presumably if you drove past one of these new PNC camera's it would flag you as having no insurance ?
Insurance companies will do anything to :

a / Delay payment so they make more interest.

b / Reduce the amount they pay or in the case of "a" getting you settle of less because you need the money to buy a new car.

Had both of the above tried on my last write off, they even came to collect the car without warning and demanded the log book etc
13 weeks later I got the book price but the t*ats cancelled the policy leaving me with no no-claims, for accident which wasn't my fault when a van ran into the back of my car whilst stationary at traffic lights.

Rant over !

even if you aren't insured through MCE, chances are your policy is through NIG, as almost all specialist car policies are...

i'me with greham sykes, and i'm underwriten by NIG

-edit- so is my bike, and dads bike (churchill) and dads car (flux)
