Roadkill

That is one of the coolest sleds I've seen.

Makes a refreshing change from the '49 Mercs . . and those Buick grilles look mean.

I'd buy it.

Slap a coat of Satin Purple on her . . . . some scalloping around the lights . . and add some pinstriping to the dash, leaving the coachwork clear.

Mustangus

Yeah, I think you'd want to leave it pretty clean all over as it beeds very little more. I just can't get over how cool it is, would make the best cruiser ever. Be interested to see what it goes for...

Roadkill

Looks like the mill could be a 472ci, too.

Yup.

The chop was tackled very nicely . . . and the use of a standard rear window and additional roof sheet metal ensures a clean finish.

My only issue would be the hydrualic route.

Admittedly he states air ride wasn't available at the time, but I'd certainly be inclined to mod it to avoid the "juice route".

F Body

Some nice metalwork gone into the roof sections, me thinks he's done that before

Overall the proportions look just right, only the wrong wheels could spoil it now !

Mustangus

Couldn't tell you tbh. If it is definately . Was a bit surprised he gives no details about the engine or tranny other than its auto.

Yes, look very professioally done. Body in general looks to be in very good condition, esecially if what he says about filler's true.

Yes, I can just see some one deciding to put massive bling low profile gold spinners or soemthing horrible on it.

Indeed.

It does invite questions though, and when selling a "one off" like this if you didn't ask questions you'd probably end up winning it and being unhappy with something . . . .

I think the pictures speak volumes, though - the Guy certainly appears to know his stuff.

Mustangus

I dont' really no much about it but it does seem that cars of this era are considerable better value at the moment than mid to late sixties cars. In this months mustang monthly the editorial talks about how in the US the younger generation is not really interested in cars that are pre the muscle car wars era.

Certainly, looking on US ebay they seem to be going for cheaper than the later cars, just wonder how long this will last.

Also, what is decking and frenching (in the car sense )

Frenching is to make the part flush with it's surrounding surface, most commonly head or taillights but also handles and antena

Not sure about decking

55starchief

Decking is normaly done to the trunk lid from memory

FUBAR

Yeah I'd buy that

also with the wheels/rims off this it would look sweet
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Ah right, thanks. Just seen it on a lot of ads and never worked it out

yeah, definately needs whitewalls

EDIT: Found "decking": Chrome details and trim removed from the trunk and smoothed over.

Yup.

Obviously there's also Shaving (removing door handles etc).

Sectioning is removing a horiziontal section of the car (like chopping, but for bodies) very hard work but can look very good.

See http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/basics-basics-sectioning-body-45509.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/basics-basics-sectioning-body-45509.html

Chanelling is dropping the body of a rod down over the chassis rails . . . lower profile body but less cab space.

you can also sectio the hood normaly done when pancaking it which means to make a very thin top much like a modern hood

Roadkill

Another popular Sled technique is removing the central crease in the hood . . . again, a lot of work for such a subtle touch.

55starchief

dont forget fadeaways which is when the front fenders were extended the length of the car to blend into the rears

EDGE

that thing is PAINFULLY cool.......
