Cheaper then?

philoldsmobile

i think he means that the ebay joints are cheaper than the JWR / USAuto ones...

i'll wager one of the parts emporiums will have them in stock though, so it depends on how quickly you need them

I want to do the work early between Christmas and New Year.... Than I need to employ your services for a full vallet...

philoldsmobile

Hmmm maybe I should have a punt on the eBay ons then.... But you just know they won't turn up till new year...

Titsy

I let it slide.... The time saving of knowing i'll have them (fingers crossed) by Saturday is more valuable....

Roadkill

I think my ones were less then £30 (each) from JWR . . . . I seem to recall US Auto wanted £5 more per side on that occasion . . .

Titsy

Probably should have gone with the eBay ones, being as I'm not going to be able track it myself, the ugency is kinda lost.... Oh well, you live and learn...

They didn't sell . . . . . Keep an eye on the auction . . . I'd guess they'll be relisted.

Titsy

Yeah, but I still want to get the job done...

Roadkill

Not a time consuming job . . . It's just the tracking which is the fiddly bit . . .

Incursus

As G says put em on as close as you can get then drive to the nearest garage.  sorted

I've got a basic tracking guage that we used on the race cars.  It's not a 4 wheel alignment thing, but it does allow you to get the front wheels parallel to each other, which would be a start. Once in line, you can then adjust them both left/right to get the steering wheel where you need it.

It just needs a slight modification to make it longer, as we used to use it on the inner side of the wheels, whereas on a road car it would have to be on the outside.  Quick job to sort though.

Titsy

Hmmm

Well the setting for tow is 0degrees, so if I can set them parallel then I'm as good as there...

I think you're worrying too much . . . as Martyn says - he's driven miles on off-tracking without signs of wear.

I'd get 'em sorted then get it set at your next convienience.

philoldsmobile

2 track rod ends sat here waiting for ya.. total was just over £60 at JWR

Well management drove most of them and I didn't feel a thing

Actually that's not true, it cost me a lot of petrol money

When i got the chavscort i had the racking checked after fitting the polybushes and ti was +3˚ out on the left and +5˚out on the right it did handle better when it was put right but the muppets at the tire centre didnt exactly do a great job as the steering wheel isnt exactl straight

Yep, I've had the same problem with my local place with tracking.  It was clear to me that they didn't really know how to use the laser aligment stuff properly.

That's why I'm going to do it all myself from now on - just need to sort/collect the tools to do it.
