Not content with giving us the 5 door Turd BMW are now launching a 3 door version :

Currently this is my least favorite new car on sale in the UK, called the Turd because if you stuck a BMW badge on a Turd people would queue up to buy it

Although im not a fan of BMW i might well start looking for a 2000 plate 330D later in the year to replace the chavscort

I thought those were 3 door anyway?

when they released the 1 series I couldn't believe they didn't produce them with A 3 door from the off.....they look so much better without 5 doors....The 1 series is a great runabout if thats what you want....
but the M/ 1 series was 3 door from the off, no 5 doors there.....not there best M/ car mind!!

Only the M/ was a three door....I have only seen one mind since release

The probem is, it's not a great runabout.
For what it costs, its size and its finish that are far better buys.  eg Mondeo.

People buy it to say they have a BMW.  It's purely a badge thing.

55S: I hope you've got a good multimeter and deep pockets if you plan on buying an out of warranty BMW.

have the new BMW's got worse? I had A 1993 3 Series and had no problems whatsoever with it, I found maintenence dirt cheap and also parts....I have no personal experience on the new models, only what I read on the BMW forum I am a part of (I know, I know!) and yes, there are a few quams, but no more than what I hear of all other makes/models

Interesting because I always thought I would get another BMW as a second car in the future

I have come to the conclusion that any modern car will cost you money and go wrong. Having owned mainly SAABs everyone said they were expensive to maintaine but my 9000 was excelent with only about £500 of necesary work in 7 years, my 9-3 had some warranty work carried out but again nothing really major went wrong with it.

1993 is around about the last of the decent dependable Beemers.  There's no exact date.
The mid-late 90s ones and onwards are certainly terrible.
