I was asking Eric about his price and whats included for something and he said it will have an MOT but wont be registered etc..  I said what about the SVA and he explained that cars over 10 years old dont need an SVA..  Is this right?

So, if hes getting it MOT'd what other costs are there.

UK registering ? < or would it already be done if its MOT'd
Tax - BAHH

Depends where he's getting it from. If its a European registered car which some of his are it will be easy and shouldnt need SVA.
If its a USA import and he's paid the duty which in theory he would have to to get it released from customs it's still pretty easy provided you have all the relevant paperwork. £38 to the DVLA to register it plus the cost of the tax disc.

Just so i know, are you no longer interested in the Jeep

Weighing it up for fuel costs and insurance, I figured I might as well get a yank.  The Jeep looks exceptionally clean and looked after though.  I would of been down that night if I could of found a lift, it was only looking on the net when I couldnt get out thats made me just want to go for a yank..

As far as i know the dude gets most of his stuff from Japan (alot seems to come from there latley)..

So as long as he has paid the inport duty and has all the paperwork for the vehicle, its just a case of UK regestering (£38) and taxing it (£1000000) right?

If you ring the DVLA they send you a pack which has all the relevant forms in it. You need insurance, MOT,You may need to have the car inspected as well.

The only other thing you sometimes need is a letter from an 'expert' confirming the vehicle is what you say it is. Usually someone from one of the bigger clubs or a specialist will do this.

I know Eric gets his stuff from all over. He imported my Dodge Ram for its first owner from Canada. The Sebring he leant me he had driven back from Germany the day before.

You need to MoT it as Motorama says, this will be done using the chassis number.  It needs to be insured, again on the chassis number, but companies will only do that for 14-30 days.

So As soon as you've got the MoT get your ar$e to a DivvyLA office and get it registered.

Then you need to get the MoT cert. updated with the new Reg number.

Motorama

I dont know which VRO is nearest to you but i always use the one at Borehamwood. The guy that does the inspections is into yanks and Harleys.

i think they just stamp the new number on the cert. you do have to tell the insurance co the new number though.
