not sure its still not working properly

It uses a pair of major wirless acess points they will go 4km but today it looks like they were dropping out. If i tried to ping the router i would get 50%-75% lost.

I called our local computer peeps as they installed it so hopefully they will be here tomorrow.

Strange thin is that email would come through and a webpage would load but it took 10 mins and then it wasnt complete

ianjpage

Hmm sounds odd.....must be summat to do with teh amount of data throughput cos emails are normally small, but web traffic is a fair bit more.....

indeed, unfortunatly i dont have the software to interegate the wireless points so i cant see whats going on. Im thinking it could be someone else on the same channel perhaps

ianjpage

what dry yesterday not working pi$$ing down today and its fine

ianjpage

Yup sounds about right LOL!!!

55starchief

Well its not working anymore. We think one of the access points has a fault

HardRockCamaro

Large amount of packet loss would be the cause of the uber slow if at all access.

What is it Microwave or laser?
Thing is both tend to work poorly during rain and just dany in the dry.

Or is it a licenced 5GHz wi-fi type job?
4km is too far for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

its a wifi on the 'b' my mistake its not 4km but 2km sighted but we are only using it over about 200'

HardRockCamaro

Ah ok.

I managed to get 1Mbps on B (2.4GHZ) using an external omni-directional antenna on a regular base station, and a PCMCIA card in the laptop with a desktop booster antenna magnetically attached to the roof of the car at a range of 1km...

These are a pair of external boxes, think they were OS Bridge. Just linked into the network at each side
