As you willl have seen, I recently overhauled by website - http://www.whitedream.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">www.whitedream.co.uk

I'm looking for things to do to improve it, make it even better.

Any suggestions for things I could add/change? New sections, features, funky stuff (I'm up for a challenge) etc?

(I know it needs more pictures - I just need to find the time to get out and take them!!)

Its own Forum ?

Seriously though, I think as long as it's kept up to date with plenty of piccys, that's fine.

When visiting sites like yours I like to see progress, updates and lots of pictures.
Useful hints and contacts are also handy . . . .

Take a look at this guy's site :

http://www.geocities.jp/cadillac1958_62sedan/1958restore1e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.geocities.jp/cadillac1958_62sedan/1958restore1e.html

It's a Japanese guy who's (slowly) restoring a '58 Caddy.

Now the site ain't pretty and his English is poor but I've learnt an amazing amount of stuff just looking at the pictures, stage by stage.

That site has been an inspiration for me.

Keep it simple with lots of info, IMHO.

That's what I'm aiming for, I'm just terrible at remembering to take pictures, especially mid-job.  (plus there's the grease + camera issue)

I'm hoping to be able to take a load of pics to sort of fill in the gaps where they are missing on the stuff that's already there, then try to keep up to date as I go.

I need to start adding stuff to the links page too.

Ditto.

Every picture I took on saturday while dropping the axle off was taken when I took a break to go to the toilet (hence cleaned my hands).

I leave the camera on the front doorstep so I remember to take pictures when I pass it to go in.

Just buy yourself a cheap 2M pix Camera for about £20 , that way when you drop it and I have several times, it's not a big issue.
Incidently although mines bashed, scratched, dented and held together with tape, it still works fine

Good idea that - I think I might trawl Amazon for one.

Insipration has landed!!

I've just added a few small projects to the list, all of which should be 'do-able'

1. Create a 'recent updates' section on the front page.
2. Create Admin pages to add stuff to each section, and in doing so automatically updates the 'recent updates' section (as opposed to adding stuff manually, then adding to the recent updates list too)
3. Create a 'recent diary entries' section on the front page - this will list the recent entry titles.
4. Start adding 'new' indicators to stuff.
A - initially, these can be date driven, shown for a set number of weeks since the item was added.
B- By creating user cookies, I can try to note when people visit and take note of new stuff since their last visit. After 2-3 visits with the 'new' icon shown, it will disapear for that person

That lot will keep me busy for a while!!

(Still interested in more suggestions though)

Only if it works

I'm still pondering exactly how I can do it at the moment.  I think I can do it, but I'll only know once I've had a play

1 & 3 are done

2 is part way there.  I've got it working for diary entries (the most common update) and partway for new links.

Progress is good
