Test drove this one this morning

Basically one of the Guy's at work is down sizing his collection of seven bikes by three. Like many of us he's better at buying them than selling them

It's one of last oil cooled Gixers turned Street fighter, he's owned it for seven years and it has chromalux flip paintwork, polished alloy frame and lots of shiney bits. Mileage is 46,000 kilometers , Mot'd last week.

Price £1,500 and it's in Hitchin

You may also like to know that the other bikes are :

1981 RD350LC fitted with a much later YPVS motor, professional paint job and a few polished alloy bits. The motor has been big bored and runs on pre-mix only, the only way to avoid engine failure due to the nylon oil pump gears failing
Again 12 months MOT, unknown mileage £1,750

The last bike is mine and I'm going for a test ride this weekend, all I'll say it's yellow and won't get polished because it's plain evil

buy the GSX-R!!!! DO IT DO IT DO IT.....

or spill the beans on what ya bought?

GSX-R 1100's are absolute animals, aren't they!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

the best bit of the LC was the on / off powerband of the engine, made it an absolute maniac machine.. the YPVS engine lost a lot of that with the powervalves, making it less savage..

Well it was pretty ballsy for 130bhp

Having no fairing also means that you don't get into stupid speeds without realising it, I think you should buy it

philoldsmobile

i want one with the fairing still on... i'd have a streetfighter, but it would have to be a LOT cheaper

Don't really know what the price should be

All I'll say is he maintains them regardless of cost, they never get driven in the rain

philoldsmobile

that kind of money should get a nice clean stock example...

i'd want the price to be under 4 figures for a fighter, partly because the main reason for fightering a bike is because its been thrown down the road and its cheaper than buying new plastic

GSX1000 K7 Street fighter

One owner 2,000 miles and the fairing etc is going onto E bay

It is a nice bike but I hate the blue anodising

It makes a lot more sense to buy a bike where some esle has wasted a lot of money on it, that they aren't going to get back

PhilO your mission, should you accept it ?

Is to find me a good one without mega miles that we both like

philoldsmobile

dont sweat any less than 50,000 miles, those engines are almost indestructable

but totaly drop dead gorgeous..

Looks like amazing condition for 40k miles

pretty typical

Not keen on the Ghay paint work

philoldsmobile

i like the purple and black colour scheme... GSX-R's were famous for their garish paintwork.

the blue and white is the most normal

i was wondering if i should have went for the 1200 bandit ........
it weighs about the same as the 650,but has more grunt, but only 10 mph more at the top end
i think the 650 is a good start for a while, and maybe move up later
