Had a(nother) go at repacing the timing cover oil seal yesterday.  Aim was to fit the sleeve kit.

Got the balancer off, new seal in, went to fit the sleeve, only to find that it already has one, and the new one doesn't fit over the top.

I figure that the seal may be slightly oversized to fit the sleeve, and that maybe why the stock one didn't work either, so I just refitted the balancer.

Took her out this morning, warming her up gently, before a blat down the dual carriageway.

Oil everywhere again, possibly worse than before

Alternator has packed up

Weird.

Bit later in the day I went back to the car with my multi-tester to try and work out what's up with the alternator.

Worked fine straight away

Fingers crossed it stays that way, but I think I need to have some cash in reserve in case it does pack in again.

is it the diode packs over heating then cooling down,or something similar?
