Just about to leave for the Jaguar Cars Design Centre
I'm having an Ergonomics meeting there this morning and after lunch we are visiting their Virtual Reality Design Centre
I'm told that it's a large empty well light room, you put some sort of goggles on and you can walk around a computer projected full size car.
The system lets you even open the doors etc and walk inside, fully in 3D
It all sounds rather geeky but I'm told the detail is mind blowing, sadly i doubt photography will be allowed

Be good see's you later

Rob

Sounds like being a great experience.....

How about your no allowed to take your mobile out of your pocket anywhere in the centre

Basically all modern vehicles are designed using a computer, so the system takes all the design data for each component and assembles them into the finished vehicle.

So the really clever part is that you can see though layers to see if one part might interfere with another part, or check the total weight of all the parts in that area etc.

It's almost like looking at an x-ray video, but the refresh rate was poor
When I stood inside the car ( the new XF ) as I turned around the frames jumped even if i turned slowly

Sort that out and you could use it as a sort of £15 million pound fair ground attraction

See... even the Holo-deck is slowly becoming reality now... I swear the entire of the last 30 years of innovation is all nicked from Sci-Fi shows like Star Trek.
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

I swear that most of the last 30 years of my life have been spent drinking, womanising and driving, the rest was wasted

Then I shall accept no excuses for not being able to even see the friggin oil filter on most cars, or for having stuff in my way when I try and change other service items like plugs...
