Think I'll have a look in daylight (at the back) and then go for one . . . . . . . probably the cheaper one in case it's wrong . . .

Roadkill

O.K.

THis is now getting bad . . . she's now loosing engine power.

Chris put a multi meter across the battery last night for me and with the engine running it was showing 14.1v.

I'm guessing this is O.K.

He also checked between the NEG terminal and the chassis and there was nothing . . . or next to nothing . . . . I'm guessing this isn't right ???

Roadkill

Oh, also checked the alt. belt . . . this (although frayed) appears to be tight and shows no signs of slipping . . .

Roadkill

Graeme.

Can you check with Dwain to see if there were different switches for car fitted with twilight sentinel ?

The second switch says it fits mine but says nothing regarding this . . .

Dwain says

Without twilingt sentinal is 1995226 and fits 84-85. There are two with 16504065 lists w/o guidematic and a 16504066 w/guidematic (not sure what that is, lol). Both list for 82-85 models, but are discontinued.

O.K - I did this - no different . . . . In fact it's still getting worse.

I've asked Carl to source a switch for me and am keeping my fingers crossed it gets here soon.

art b

Haven't yet fitted the new headlight switch but was thinking . . . Is the issue likely to be the coil breaking down ???

Not dear . . . I should've thought, really, and ordered it with the Dizzy cap . . . as it was I needed to swap-out the old one.

Lesson learned.

art b

good chance if no one has ever changed it

For £6 - odd It'll be next on the list if the switch doesn't do anything !
