Am intending over XMas break (off for 2 weeks ) to change the rear diff gasket seal on the maro (as its leaking) - no problems finding and getting the gasket but what kind of oil does it take in there?

The manual is really helpful - it says "use the recommended oil" ..... doesn't tell me what though!!!

I have some recollection of it needing special oil, or special additive or summat ????

Titsy

80W - 90 GL-5 Oil... if it was an LSD you would need a GM addative, but i'm guessing that's not the case...

Roadkill

I've got some gear oil - not sure the number but free if it's suitable.

Cool thanks for that - Nope not an LSD - good ol' fashioned open diff so no additive

No problem - I've had it for about 8 years  - since I did the transmission on the '57 Hawk.

Seems GM likes using ATF in manual gearboxes so I never finished it !
