Andy

Looks pretty sweet. Do they normally have that much over spray on a new car?

What do the buttons in the centre of the t-top roof do?

If you mean what I think you mean they're mileage counters.

You can manually set them to whatever you want (they don't move themselves).

Last offered in 87 for Camaros, this multi-featured addition listed at $50.00 and gave you the following:

   * A swiveling single map light
   * 2 reminder/selector roller wheels for appointments, mileage,service etc.
   * 2 activation buttons, one for the map light, one for all the rest of the interior lights
   * A sunglass pouch or garage door opener holder
   * A neat little flashlight that snaps into it own little compartment ( it even has the word CAMARO on it)
   * And of course the dome light

very pretty

sell the 4th gen, buy that, and stop depreciation!

Andy

Ah right, thats a bit random but i suppose it was the 80's...

Flip Martian

Very nice. A mate of mine has an 87 Pontiac Firebird with that red velour everywhere. Lovely car. Must admit I'd rather have a 3rd gen Firebird out of the 2.

Ahh, yes, the Firebird.

I hear they installed lipstick carriers on the overhead console, handbag hooks behind the seats and fitted full-size glove boxes to hold spare pairs of high heels.

Roadkill - bog off!

FYI they had no glove compartment. At least my mate's GTA doesn't have - just a big pocket stuck on the dash with velcro. I guess the high heels would have to go in that large expansive boot space... (*ahem*...)

HardRockCamaro

In Camaros the high heels go on the dash or out the t-tops...

I can't help it if the (prettier) Firebirds were aimed at the female market, can I ?

In fairness, though, no Third Gen had enough in-car storage . . . just huge door pockets that were so narrow you can't get your hand in and a centre console that bearly fits a pair of gloves inside !

The Fourth Gens did improve on this, but only just.

The Firebird/Camaro debates are almost as legendary as the Ford/Chevy ones

I like the 3rd gen Firebird but dislike the 4th Gen Firebird, although I should qualify that statement by
saying the 4th Gen Firebird rear end & doors are better than the Camaro, I just don't all the scoops
at the front and I'm not keen on pop up headlights ( sorry Rob ) but as they each to there own

Gator

the firebird will allways be the hardmans car you poofs carry on drivin yer maros

Camaro the very name sounds like some sort of vage cream

'tis true. I still love the facelift 4th gen Transams though; the Camaro I think is more "muscle" looking, the Pontiac more lairy and "in yer face". If I could have found a DECENT one I'd have been driving round in one now - but I'd have been a couple of grand poorer.

philoldsmobile

i've always been a lot more of a camaro fan, just the TTA proving the exception to the rule, but thats more on grounds of its rarity and comparatively 'exotic' status
