That 70s dash is awesome.

Funny - those Rovers were so common at one time but now they seem to be more scarce than rocking horse poo...

Then again, when was the last time you saw a 70s Renault?! Or a 70s Peugeot?!

Out of ALL the SD1's made, I've been told there are less than 1,000 left on the road worldwide

Kinda, I want some early SD1 alloys for it and I'll swap the mirriors for some later ones.

I'll keep the old wheels and mirriors though

Seems weird that the SD1 is now a classic

Not all of them

Don't forget the Renault Feugo, which was rather different from the square Mk4 Cortina

Took ages to find a picture of a light blue metallic one, because at the time that was the most popular colour

Look at that aerial ! - It looks like a piece of scaf-pole's been jammed in the roof !

Subtle - NOT !

Yeah . . . I remember, when I was a kid, seeing many of the old BL cars driving around with mis-matched doors and patched primer everywhere and rust holes on the lower quarters.

Seemed most people did car D.I.Y in those days . . . . . (I'm talking about the early-mid 80's by the way)

I was just about to post the same thing actually as that was my 1st thought
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

looks like a very tidy rover.. amazing to think a car of that calss would be accepted with keep fit windows in 1976 - how times have moved on!

i've driven (and very much enjoyed) SD1's in the past, but never noticed the ignition switch on the wrong side until i saw that photo! odd how things that seem odd work fine in the real world.

My Dad used to buy nothing BUT Renaults in the 70s 80s and early 90s and had a Fuego...

He went through 4 Renault 12s, at least 2 Renault 18s, the Fuego, then several Lagunas. Probably missed out some between the Fuego and the Laguna but I guess they've all rusted away now anyway...!

My dad's 3.5 V8 had leccy windows all-round.

It also had (even) more gauges on the dash, IIRC.

Well it was the first production car with an isometric dashboard
The difference between left and right hand drive was simply bolting the instrument box on the opposite side.
If you lift the rubber mat on the passenger side you'll see the mounting holes and swapping the air vent over to fit the steering column

leccy windows were an option on the early cars, did your dad have this dash?
