I remember them. Never had one though.

Andy

Had something similar at primary school, was a little round robot, programmed it and put a pencil in the middle and it went off drawing!

Turtle?

Incursus

Yeah I remember the Turtle. Programmed it on the old BBC computers

Kenny

Didn't we have both the turtle and the big trak at Hanslope?
I seem to remember both...

Turtle?

That's it I think. Grey round thing much the same. Never programmed it on a PC and to be honest it was a rare occasion if it ever got used.

Ace little things though!

HardRockCamaro

Well clearly I'm having one of those...

One of my favourite toys ever, I looked for one on ebay a couple of years go and even ones with problems were selling for £80-£90...

We had that turtle things in school that you programmed on the BBC.  The language was called LOGO...

Ahh That was it!  We were trying to remember last night.

Andy

Iirc we had Logo at secondary school on Win 98 machines (muts nuts then) and Logo was taught in our ICT lessons. Seemed a very basic CNC control. Remember one kid executing a rediculous line with many naught repeat. Left the comp for most of the lesson and still hadn't finished by the end.

Fieldy

<---- 1986 here - way too young

Andy

1988 and we had one. Though my school was very backwards, slates and all that!

Not in my school mate, we didn't even have any computers

country side bumpkins don't need them to control their tractors

Andy

Haha, we were well out in the stick too! Had I believe a BBC computer with 'Pod' that the highlight of was the command to explode or something. Then just as I was leaving the pinnacle in all technology turned up in the shape of an RM computer. Spent most of it's time being used to play Solitaire by the class assistant.

Roadkill

Andy

Little red tomato type thing?

Not exactly GTA...

Pod

Never seen that tomato Podd before.

We did have one of the turtle things in primary school.

All I remember was that you could spend ages making it move around and hopefully draw something at least vaguely recognizable.

Or just pick up the pen and draw it yourself in a fraction of the time.

Hmm, having said that, computers haven't necessarily moved on much since then!
