dodge neon = epic fail, without the damage, let alone with!!!

Andy

Doesn't the Dodge Neon SRT get any street cred? There was one up for sale over here not long ago, looked a peach.

This video goes up there with the niave misunderstanding of a manual gearbox and clutch, along with Z06 idiot and the kid who trashed his dads brand new Mustang through the garage (GT500 iirc).

i LOVED my neon.. was one of the best cars Ive had... AWESOME value for money, electric everything, aircon, was PROPER sweet... 2.0 litre 4 pot was fairly nippy too, the car was quicker than the same age 2 litre focus....

MPG? out of interest..

Hmm..

Bonnet looked bent already and the window is broken?

I can't see how it didn't wheel spin at all in fact it looks like he put the brakes on?

Sounded like it was f***** too.

Me smells "deliberate"

NO!

Neon = couldn't afford an Escort.

nasty nasty nasty. multiply that by 10 for the phase 2 cars. the neon is probably the worst car Chrysler (in themselves a pretty awful manufacturer) ever made.

why

but harsh gruff and thirsty. neons were universally slagged, you are hard pushed to find many people with much good to say about them...

In the US it does, if you're into Sport Compacts.
The 2.4(?)  turbo engine made it a lot faster than the Focus RS and the like over here

At least it didn't hurt as much as this burn out fail

er.... never actually worked it out but it was pretty good, i used it mainly on a roads and motorways.  comparing it to other cars ive had i think it was getting 35mpg ish in those conditions, around town it was probably a bit worse but not much.

i would have had another one in a heartbeat but i really wanted an estate car as a daily this time round so i ended up with another focus.

neon wise though, i hear the auto trans is pants and unreliable, the manual that i had was perfect..

i didnt find it gruff at all, the engine was SUPER sweet, the gear box was nice and tight and the suspension was a bit softer than the focus.  The brakes were better spec than the focus (discs all round) and the aircon/heat was excellect.  The Mk1 that i had was pillar less doors which made it easier to break in to but looked great.

MPG wise it was comparable to my current focus

I really liked that car, was cheap to run/insure, bits were cheap if it needed them, i really couldnt fault it..

when the plum in the saxo crashed in to it while it was parked his saxo was destroyed and he was lucky to crawl out alive, the neon only bent slightly, panel damage mainly but overall it was still straight.

There's a BIG neon following in the USA, i was a member of a really busy neon forum and it seemed about the same kinda size as the USA focus forums I used to go on back when that was a new car....

I admit, I will be the first to defend a neon... i REALLY liked it and couldnt fault it....

Well thats 2 people...
It's the time that we kill that keeps us alive...

Having looked at that video again on a comp, i must say that didn't sound good before, and from the looks of it, it wasn't a trailer queen. What he was actually doing, only he knows. That doesn't look like he's trying to perform a burn out more, properly feck the engine, which he accomplishes pretty well.

That second video is just nasty.

Shifty

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnn Lucky.........

Piece of wank anyway, done the world a favour and got another one of the road...... if you ask me......

untill a very expensive trans failure.... hmm, pattern there..

she sold it and bought a focus, a good move.

neon has the same engine as the PT looser, and its terrible, very harsh, even chrysler salesmen used to describe them as having a bit of a 'rasp'

EDGE

well i loved mine until it was destroyed by some spaxo driving muppet...

i guess its horses for courses...  some people love them some people dont...

dont make me list expensive car failures/maintenance

Kenny

Hmm, do you think he didn't realise Neon's are front wheel drive?

He had the brakes on, so it obviously wasn't going to wheel spin...
