Just that really..

If you buy a car and the MOT sheet says advisory issued, is it illegal for the seller not to give you it?

As far as I know they don't legally have to give you jack, it's up to the buyer to walk away

Dont think it's illegal but if it says one was issued - you can find out what the advisory was here:

I don't see why they have to give you a failed cert.  If the car past it since that's all that matters right?  Who cares what was worn out, if it's not worn out any more?

Not fail sheet:

advisory issued

Advisory - something that doesn't require fixing for the MOT, but is in the MOT tester's view, something that should be fixed before the next one. It will let you know what you need to start looking at.

Ah good point!

Can't see why they should have to give you that either.  The vehicle is legal at the time of the MOT or no.

Roadkill

It's not legally required but I think if it's removed it can only be bad.

The MoT "computer" stores advisors and will flag up a previous issue if it's not been addressed next time round (apparently).

For example your car passes but has minor wear in various bushes, corroded brake lines and failing shocks.
A tester may pass the vehicle and just advise bt next year all those will almost certainly be failures . . . .

So your car that's fine now (just because it has a test certificate) will be a lemon come next test.

Be careful !!

Not necessarily.

I can't remember what the exact details were now but one year I got about 6 advisory items.  I addressed 2 of them and left the rest to chance.  The next year, none of the previous items were mentioned...

Roadkill

That's what I was told by an MoT tester when the new "electronic-based" test came in a few years back.

I've had some old advisors, too, but I think it's based on severity.
