Really fecking mad about this....

Just got my claim against the guy in the Merc who drifted into me in November closed down, and my record is now 'clean' again with my no claims restored to 7 years.

However, my renewal price with my current insurer has gone up by £40 from last year and would be an extra £60 on top to protect my no claims (a wise procaution being as the guy in november tried to blaim me when he was a fault)

So I shop around and knock off about £35. But then I get curious and omit the details regarding my not at fault carpark scrap and drifter crash. And what comes back, £105 less than my previous best quote

So I call up the best quote based on not declaring the claims, then explain that I haven't declared them and could they add them on. Once the no fault claims are added the price jumps back up by £105. I ask her why this is and she says that the underwriters are no obliged to give reasons for how they calculate the cost of a premium....

Ahhhhhh! Why the feck is it that I should be penalised for incidents that have been proven to be someone elses fault.

The system works, it works to feck over the honest man who has done no wrong...

The questions ask's if you have had an accident in the last 3 years, and you have not, someone else did (into you).

Whats this for? the Focus?

Titsy

Yes it's for the Focus... but if I don't declare them (even though I was deem not at fault in both cases) then I have not answered all questions truthfully and so an policy would not be valid...

The question is not have I had any accidents, but have I made any claims...

EDGE

insurance is a right bastid, hey take in to account how many accidents you've been involved in, not caused, I guess theres' some stat and % of how likely you are to be involved in another based on your previous ones etc..

you have to declare them, otherwise your policy will be invalid becuase you know full well that the insurance company, in the event of having to pay out, will try EVERYTHING possible to get out of it!

You can try Chris Knott insurance, they sponsor the ford focus owners club, they may be cheaper, if they are way cheaper its worth spending the £15 joining the club to get the poilcy discounted,

He has had an accident.  It wasn't his fault but he was in an accident.
There is an insurance database that logs this stuff so there is no point lying.  If they notice (and if you ever need to claim you can bet your ar$e they'll double check everything) your insurance will be void as a minimum.

Edge is right, if you are involved in an accident there is a much higher risk you will be involved in another with 2 years, and if you *are* involved in another within that time period there is a *much* greater chance you will be involved in a 3rd.  Something crazy like a 50% higher risk.

Is it fair, no...
