High Performance Pontiac magazine might want to reconsider its implication that anyone who has a 2004-2006 Holden-based Pontiac GTO doesn't own a real one, especially given that those readers are a part of whatever subscription base they've got left

Some great forum comments until the moderators lock it out

Still "us" American car owners are not always that subjective

Thought this was class, though :

4. How to tell you're getting old?

1) You misplace your dentures when you're in a rush to watch 60 Minutes.
2) You think Polka's, Showtunes, and Jan & Dean are great musical influences.
3) You sing along with elevator music.
4) People call you at 9pm and ask if they woke you.
5) You eat dinner at 4pm.
6) You can live without sex, but not without glasses.
7) You enjoy hearing about other people' operations.
8) You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
9) Your eyes won't get much worse.
10) Your joints are more accurate at predicting weather than the National Weather Service.

Indeed and I can think of a candidate we all know

One could argue that all of the F Body Pontiacs weren't proper Pontiac's because they share the same body with the Camaro

What us, never.  The only thing I hate is Pontiac owners who advertise cars for sale saying BIG BLOCK or SMALL BLOCK....... There is NO such thing. All blocks were the same size. ( very useful )

This is very true - and shows how little some owners know about their cars.

It's a useful trait of Pontiac blocks, that . . makes me wonder why more companies didn't do it.

Quite true. I believe that was due to the National Maritime Council issuing a policy about making sure boat anchors all conform to a uniform size......

TBH I didn't think they slated the 2004-06 GTO in their original post, only the 2010 model. maybe I missed something?...

How can that be useful?

Surely the 'small block' versions were simply smaller bores - which would therefore mean the block was heavier, lowering the power to weight ratio.

If ever there was a reason for bigger is better, then that's it.

My chevy small block out performs a lot of big blocks with the same or even slightly bigger ci, power to weight ratio was higher in most cases

True, but the chevy SBC is considerably lighter than the BBC.  I was refering the pontiac blocks.

IMHO the chevy BBC is for all out torque/heavy vehicles, but the SBC is a far better racing engine.

because it leads to fragile undersize big blocks, and overweight bota anchor small blocksç¿Ç?
