In my attempt to fill up all of the 'Questions and Queries' section with just questions from me, I have another to add

Where is the best place to get an old kitchen worktop - possibly an off-cut?

I just tried Friday-ad, Gumtree and called round a few local kitchen fabricators. The fabricator guys say they only use what they need now and rarely have off-cuts - makes sense.

Also tried eBay - a couple on there, but uber expensive!

Just wondering if someone knows somewhere else to try or if someone is changing or about to change their kitchen and needs to throw their old worktops?

Cheers guys!!

I'll be doing mine - but that'll be very early next year.

Keep looking on eBay I'd suggest or have a sniff around the tips at New Bradwell and Bleak Hall.

Is it a chipboard/laminated one you're after I'm assuming ?

Ahh yes , forgot about house-tip places. There's an OK one in Wisbech I'll try.

Yah, just some old MDF thing will do.

EDGE

nip down to B&Q mate, at the timber cutting bit there are always bits of worktop in the bin.  The worktops they sell are 4m lengths, hardly anyone needs it all.  Some people will take home the end even if they dont need it, a lot of people will leave it in the bin at the edge of the cutting desk !

EDGE

failing that, ikea work tops are 3m, and DIRT cheap and very, VERY good..  Better than the B&Q ones actually...

here you go... plain white, 2.2m... £20... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60086500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60086500

WIN!! Awesome For a brand new worktop that is UBER UBER cheap!! Just put some metal legs with it for £34, but for some reason it says that it is not available online - even know there is a box you can put your quantity in and it goes into your 'cart'

As we have other tasks to finish before installing the worktop, I think I will wait and take a look at the tip this weekend. Failing that, Ikea is win!

Fair play - never knew that - I feel better about leaving bits with them, now.
