China's gonna be the manufacturing centre for the rest of the world, but let's not forget that the communist Chinese Government own a minimum 51% of every business and can throw you out any time they like and keep all your assets

thats the 'beauty' of communism. communism can work for the masses in some instances (nazi Germany for example, where a 'pure' German had a bloody good life) but unfortunately its got a (justified) bad rap as an economic model because its invariably used by lunatic dictators as a tool for generating massive wealth to buy arms and operate enormous armies, and it oppresses the more ambitious people.

China wont be able to take over the world for some less labour intensive goods, where the cost of shipping them from china overtakes the cost of manufacturing the item itself (T.V's are a good example - most are manufactured in eastern Europe now)

With regards to Porsche, I don't see how it can work.  People will pay a premium for a German built car, but if assembled in China, customers will want to see a corresponding drop in price.  When people like Porsche get into the dirty (from an image point of view) world of price wars their badge prestige will suffer very quickly.

If they really want to go down this route, producing major sub assemblies there, and assembling the car in Germany would surely be the way to go?

Meh, Audi, Porsche - What's the difference ?

not that much anymore.. the Porsche Cayman can trace its engine origins back to the Golf VR6!!

mind you, the 924 was originally going to be an Audi, so they have been at it for well over 30 years!
