Last year Sureterm was £467.36, Fux have quoted £440 and RH are coming back to me

Edit : Stevenage just quoted £437.50 but were +£100 on the excess

Double Edit : Footman James only do classic yanks i.e +25 years old

F Body

Headley are 9am - 5pm Mon - Fri only and the Hill House Hammond number doesn't work

Parkinsons Insurance number no longer in service

The CIC number connects you to Adrain Flux

"We" are running out of options

F Body

Frank Pickles aren't sure if they can cover American vehicles & will ring be back on Monday

A-Plan - They are doing a specialist credit check to see if there under writers will cover a high performance American car

So it looks like my £450 ish British pounds will be heading back to Fux

Motorama

I've been with RH for quite a few years now and found them to be great but obviously my policy is on a much older car which is always cheaper than a more modern high performance car like yours. From memory i think i pay something like £180 for the 57 Caddy with a value of £35k

We've just won £250 worth of classic insurance with Footman James who told me their classic policy does cars over 5 years old, but trucks have to be 20 years old You do need a recognised car club membership for cars under 20 years old though

They rang me back today and quoted £450 with £400 excess

Rang me this morning to let me know he is still looking

So only Fank Pickles left

F Body

RH came back with a quote earlier

£318.96 with an excess of £175 ( £50 windscreen )

That's with the same company ( Equity Red Star ) that I'm with at the moment and that Adrain Fux are quoting £440 with £300 excess

If you ring Flux back they will normally beat it...

That is what really winds me up

Adrain Fux are just a broker not an insurance company, therefore they should be providing me with the best price available, not trying to rip me off every year !
I honestly wouldn't worry about £30 - £40 but +£120 is just taking the pee
This is why I've moved all my three policies away from them, I don't want to have a spend a week each year, doing their job for them

That's business though!

Their sale team is no doubt pushing hard to make up the figures etc. They'll have a set mark up on all their policies, areas like new drivers or first time Yank owners seem to areas where they can charge what they like.

Its the same with break down cover, a work mate had his AA renewal come through and was a 1/3 more than last year for some reason. While on the phone discussing it he said 'Well if I sign up again will I get the introductory rate', phone says 'yes'. He asked to cancel it and sign up again and they said we'll honour the introductory rate.

It makes no sense but it's more that likely someone in a call centre following screen prompts.

OK Adrian Fux said £440 take it or leave it, so I left it

Just paid £318.96 with RH Specialist Car Division

Tel No. 01277 - 206911.

Fully comp, two drivers any use.
5,000 miles a year.
Above price includes up to 1 month European Cover.
12 months homestart/breakdown cover.
Excess = £175.
Windscreen excess = £50.

Note : This is a classic policy which doesn't qualify for any no claims discount.
RH are actually part of the Equity Red Star group, that's why they are cheap

Bit excessive don't you think?  I'm sure you could have knocked them down a bit

Andy

Sounds like a good policy though! A lot of those add-ons make that value for money!

Maybe you could take a European vacation with the car?

What like the 706 miles I've done this year

I'd love to drive over to the Millau Viaduct, but I'm lucky if I can get the odd day off work

I've just spoken to Sureterm, & renewed my insurance with them for £333.19.

I mentioned to the guy on the phone & the issue is with Equity Redstar not Sureterm themselves, as my policy is Underwritten by Highway Insurance my quote was fine...

Apparantly Equity Redstar lost over £250million last year through their insurance of "specialist vehicles"...  my question to that was how...?????

All the Bugatti veyrons and the other Super cars that some owners just don't know how to handle and crash it  when they drive beyond there limits( Just my opinion as to how a insurance company could lose that sort of money over a year )

So they are going loose an extra £148.40p this year with me

May be it was to do with Broker fees

FUBAR

i've no idea. I even said to the guy that you had just been re-insured with Equity Redstar & he was confused...  so nobody knows whats going on really apart from the fact that my Insurance was £90 cheaper than last year

Spoke to them at Sureterm myself this week and they weren't interested in reinsuring the TA.

A-Plan done their usual customary annual phone call and came in at £300 with full european breakdown.  So they got my money.  Same price as last year.

philoldsmobile

I'm renewing with Adrian flux again this year, as my renewal is £4 cheaper than last year, £396, 5000 miles per year, comp, driving other cars, and European breakdown cover.

only slight difference is there is now a £20 excess on windscreen repairs, so no biggie! (windscreen replacement excess is still £75)

all in all, works for me.

oh BTW, 'specialist' policies cover all sorts, most cars away from the real mainstream manufacturers (Ford Vauxhall Renault etc) can be covered on a specialist policy (mine is) so its all the crashed and stolen M3's and Audi TT's that push the losses up on specialist policies.
