Road Trip: USA

Hi all,

Me and a mate are planning a road trip Stateside for late 2013 (Sep/Oct time) as for where, we're not sure, what to do, we're not sure. Basically we're gonna do something while we still have little responsibilities!

The only set things we agreed on are, catching at least an NHL Game, a drag race meet, or a Nascar race. The rest of the time we were just going to find places to go, things to do!

What I was wondering is what other people have done, how easy was it getting a nice hire car out there (actually thinking this might be the time to hire a proper yank) I do remember seeing somewhere on here a bunch of you guys doing a Power tour or something, but for the life of me I can't find it.

So any tips or area we should definitely look at, fire away. We're going down the pub tomorrow to think of some more plans so would be good for some other peoples ideas.

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration...

Swerving away from some moron skidding down the road is more like it. I think Graeme's eyesight was more of a threat

This however isn't an exaggeration! The only fluid it didn't leak was screen wash, and I suspect that's because it was empty already...

We have done a few road trips:

(1) round trip around Florida (twice!)
(2) California/Nevada,
(3) Wyoming/Colorado/Utah/South Dakota,
(4) NYC/Niagara/Ohio (for trans am nats)/Washington
(5) Route 66 from Chicago to LA

Personally our all time favourite was (3)

This is true. My friend has a lot of connections in the states, due to his job he hops back and forth at least once a year but has always been there for work. So this hopefully ticking off one of my bucket list items (NHL, NASCAR, NHRA) event plus making up for not having a holiday since I started working!

Thanks for the suggestions, will be heading to the pub to draw up some fag packet plan!

Still it was an experience I spose, what with steam whistling out of the Pontiac like a kettle, piss water for beer and seats too hot to sit in for longer than a minute at a time...ahh memories  

Still glad we went though
