yea ..i had to give the gate a coat of used engine oil and creosote last year too..

smelt feckin great for a couple of weeks in the hot sun..

Am in the process of doing the fences in the back garden at the mo.  Had 3 oil change's worth of  25,000+ mile oil kicking about so it seemed silly not to.
