only pay to get in after youve crossed the bridge, but if your coming from the midlands then go down the m50 to ross on wye and straight down past monmouth to cardiff and its freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

art b

ah right, cheers guys,

its a £6.50 tax to get into sheepland,

would be nice to travel across on the bridge,
so that will be on the way back,

might pop into ross on wye,ive not been there for years,
and have a couple of beers, with the £6.50 saved...

I would suggest heading to Gloucester and driving down through the new forest, then pick the motorway back up (M4). Be careful of speed patrols, they are much more frequent in Wales than England.

It will cost more in fuel than paying the bridge charge to go via the forest, but the new forest is beautiful.

Once in Cardiff, there isn't alot to do AFAIK.

The castle in the city center is supposed to be worth a look, and the city is good for shopping, but it is a student based city mainly.

There is loads to do on the outskirts, loads of protected land, walks and ancient artifacts to visit.

As you leave Wales, you will drive over the 'New bridge', as you 'Land' back into England, there is a village at the foot of the bridge on your RHS, be sure to give me wave, that's where i'm at....

Been twice this week.

The harbour has been regenerated, but IMO a 30 min drive north into the valleys gives you far more to explore.

Guess it depends what you want to do?

art b

had a supurb time

we stayed at the cardiff bay travelodge,

very tidy as its only around 4 years old.
cheap rooms if booked in advance sunday nite was all of £15...
free parking as long as your there,
[how many city hotels offer that...:)]
as its next door to the red dragon leisure centre, cinema and restaurants,
the bay is only a 5 minute walk away

the visitors centre is across the road from the travelodge
