It was the National Finals this weekend at Santa Pod, its pretty much the grass root classes of the sport last outing of the year. It also plays host to the MSA Pro Mod class, which this year was pretty tight with this event being a decider for the season winner.

Sadly day one started with quite a bit of rain which didn't get cleared up until about 2pm. First class out was Pro Mod, with the first pairing being a favourite to win Steve Hall in a Red Chevy up against Graham Ellis running his now turbocharged Superbird.

His car has been quite a handful before with it being pretty new tech this side of the pond, the biggest issue has been figuring out the best way of staging the car which is up on boost.

Anyway, he had a bit of a wild ride...

Graham got out fully conscious and was airlifted to hospital simply because of how serious the crash was. Reports are sketchy as to exactly what injuries he's sustained but he is doing everything he can to get out of the hospital as soon as possible.

The car was built by Andy Robinson, a big name in drag racing and a fellow Pro Mod driver. He was pretty happy in seeing the safety cell did its job and kept him safe during the crash.

The unfortunate thing is the car had actually been sold about a month before as Graham is having Andy Robinson build him a new Ford Mustang which would've used the running gear from the Superbird.
