ive made patch leads the same colour code both ends and they work, may be that ,the pin out is differenent on certain bits of kit ie the white /blue at one end becomes the orange /white at the other on different pins,
have heard of it b4 and its horses for courses!

Network patch cables have a pair (or a few) wires that cross over mid way down the cable don't they?  its not just a case of pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2

but we tested the cables with a cat 5 tester and it said they were ok

they cant cross over halve way down fella,
dont forget cable is made 1000s of meters at a time
a cross over cable has swopped pin out by changing the cable order at one end,
ya can get A and B connection on patch panels depending on the product supplier

well 1/2 way down means a bit of ribon cable does a 180 at somepoint between connector A & connector B.

Can be 5mm from the end for all it matters
