Anyone know what the threads are likely to be for the wheel studs on my Cadillac ?

It's got the older 2xStd and 2xRev thread arrangement.

Or, has someone got some guages as I only have Metric, UNC and UNF.

Jamieg285

I would have guess UNC, but I don't know for certain.

I would be confident that it isn't metric.

Definately not, no.

Not convinced it's UNC, either . . . I'm thinking more AN thread . . .

As in Army/Navy - used for plumbing?

Wouldn't think it was that.

I thikn you're best bet would be to ask someone stateside

Good idea.

Failing that I'll offer up every guage I've got next time I have the chance . . .

Cool, I shall fire off an email.

Ah, Ha ! - I've already found a supplier of them . . . as long as they are 1/2"-20's.

Just re-read that.  I should've said I've found suppliers of reverse threaded nuts . . not studs.

Nuts are no good without studs

As I don't plan to be heavy dragging the caddy or throwing it round a track I decided my studs were fine.

I didn't see the point of replacing something for no reason.

On a side note I think the caddy's wheel studs/nuts were made of Stainless steel.  They show no sign of rust or corrosion at all and still release/tighten without a squeak.

For now, Yes.

But I will be tweaking them somewhat.

55starchief

if you decide to change from the steel rims you will need longer studs

I know.

But I'm not, yet.

And when I do I'm not bothered about sticking with the original threads . . . I'll go for something common-ish.
