I've just had a dozen listings cancelled because they reckon I am trying to avoid their fees.  Some of them had decent bids too.

All I have done is added to the bottom of the listing that if the buyer wanted to pay via paypal then they should pay half the fees.  Why should they have the easy payment option and I have to pay for it all?

hmm tis bloody egay for ya - you cant say in the listings that buyers pay fees....i tend to either set the starting bid higher, or up the postage cost to cover some of teh fee cost

Not that I agree with it because there so much bs associated with Ebay.

But the fees are part of it, it is an auction after all. If you where selling a car at the MK or Bedofrd acution you'd still have to pay the fee, you couldn't say to who ever bought hay stump up half the cash for the fees.

Yep, that's what I'll be doing from now on.

I'll get it in the neck at home too now, as all the stuff that was laid out for selling will be there even longer now

I'm not asking for ebays fees - only Paypal, which is the buyers choice to use.  If they want instant payment, why shouldn't they contribute to the costs?

plain and simple no PAYPAL accepted. Its a convinience for both seller and buyer at the end of the day. Its not a huge % anyways

Exactly my point - so why not share costs.

Personally I prefer Paypal, it's just the imbalanced fees that annoy - and facsist egay.

TBH if you look at it logicly, the tiny ammount you will be charged for paypal is considerably cheaper than the cost of driving into town, paying to park, and taking a cheque to the bloody bank..

not accepting paypal WILL cost you bidders, there has been many a time i have gone to bid on something, seen they dont accept paypal and carried on looking elsewhere...

Same here, I recall all the hastle Shifty had trying to buy conrods, being able to pay straight off at the end of the auction is a big plus... Not having tha option would make me think twice...

We've just cancelled our Paypal account.  We bought a laptop last week for over £1k and tried to pay by paypal.  They came back and said "sorry we can't honour this amount as it's over a £1k, find another way to pay", so I cancelled the transaction.

So I contacted the seller and arranged to send him a bank transfer (yes I know this was slightly dodgy - but was the only way to sort this out!)  Anyway 3 days later the bank transfer is complete and voila - goods sent out and resceived.  One of the best transactions we have every been through.

Checked bank account the next to find Paypal had bloomin taken it as well

I wouldn't have minded if it had been a small amount but it was over £1k

The bank said that a credit for the same amount was due back in the account the next day but as it was an unauthorised direct debit - bloomin charged me £34 which after a bit of a fight - managed to get credited.

I know the way to go these days is by Paypal, but until they stop stealing money from people, I won't ever be using them again.

Have to say i have had no problems with paypal, even when i had a slow shipper i found paypal services to be very helpful in dealing with the seller
