Our phone line was dead yesterday morning.  Debs tried to phone the support line, but with having to look after the 2 kids, didn't want to hang around for the 30 minute wait quoted after she was connected.

I tried a bit later from work, but got the same message, and couldn't really hold on for that long.

Phoned them as soon as I got home - 20 minutes this time, but hell we have to get through some time, so I waited.

When I got through, I was cheerfully told their computers were down, so beyond looking to see if there were any general faults reported in the area, they could do bugger all and could I please call back in 2 hours!

When I called back later - 40 minutes - no thanks, I'll try in the morning.

On my way to work this morning I get through after 10 minutes, to be told I needed to be at home to 'run some diagnostics' for them, and they couldn't help.  After enquiring what the diagnostics were, it basically boiled down to unplugging all phones and trying different ones in the master socket and then being there when they try to call.  Luckily I'd already done the phone switching stuff and told them to try the call (knowing it wouldn't get through anyway).  They put me on hold to do this, and then come back saying 'yes there is a problem' (good at this aren't they? I told them that).

Next step is to book an engineer to look at it - earliest appointment - Next Tuesday!!   That's over a week with no phone.

This has pi$$ed me off so much, I'm looking at switching.

VirginMedia aren't doing well right now eh?!

Roadkill

I've heard a few people having a rant over Virgin media too.

I always hated NTL (after my own personal experiences) - seems the take over by Virgin hasn't helped.

When our phones went down a few weeks back I called BT - got through straight away, left my details.  The engineer called back within the hour confirming there was a fault and that it'd be fixed with 48 hours.
BT diverted calls to my mobile (free of charge) and also offered to pay me compensation for every day the phone was down.
The fault was fixed with 15 hours of me reporting it.

That's why I've never even considered leaving BT.

My mate is an engineer with BT, That comes in almost as handy as having a mate mechanic!

EDGE

you want to try dealing with the corporate side of BT... I've seen tectonic plates move faster...

Ditto - had a few periods of server downtime at weekends when we first went onto broadbandwith NTHell, but generally it works OK.
I ordered a new installation CD at 16:45pm on line last Thurday and it arrived in the Friday post
I've now removed all my Norton virus programs and am running the free Virgin PC Guard virus software. It's a little slow to load but seems to do everything

My phones and BB are fine the odd BB glitch once in a blue moon.

But i recently had their HDTV box installed and it had issues.  but 3 enginners and a swop out in 3 days was fine with me.

tell them to refund you for everyday the service is out.  or if you got through to the deli helpline then ring back ask for a supervisor.

if you did get Deli you can ask to be put through to the UK instead....
