With the continuing price war between the big Supermarkets Lager is now cheaper than water

440ml cans of lager are now on sale in Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's for just 22p

That is the equivalent of 28p a pint – roughly a tenth of the price of a pub pint. Colas in the same supermarkets cost 2.7p to 6.7p extra.

Own-brand water is even more expensive at 31.7p to 49.3p for 440ml – just over three-quarters of a pint

Well of course it is!  You can't charge more for recycled water... Piss in a can should be cheaper that pure water.

Whats the matter Larger drinker? Afraid you'll taste something?

Cunning Plan

Im quite into the 'proper' ales right now if drinking at home, Badger Beer, Spitfire etc.  Otherwise its Guiness.

The water is just pumped out of the ground and thrown into a plastic bottle, the lager has to be brewed, canned and then excise duty paid per percent of alcoholic content

NB : As it happens I hate Lager, the best generally available beer is Marston's Pedigree, the best beer IS Timothy Taylors Landlord

But you've got to travel to Frog-land for that.

That's a crime in itself.

agreed... lagers in general on the mainland are far superior..

one to watch out for, but not common outside southern spain is Mahu - its absolutely fantastic..

amstell is excellent, and leffe is truly wonderful

for ales, old peculiar is good, and old speckled hen, or Goliath are good.. spitfire is ok ish, but tastes quite weak and watery.. pedigree has absolutely NO flavour whatsoever..

ultimately i'd rather drink wine or spirits anyway...
