ive been toying with the idea of buying a usb turntable to put our vinyl albums on to mp3 files,

now i imagine there is a limited use for this,
as they are relitively expensive[for the amount of use you get ]
would it be a good idea/is any one interested in buying one as a group purchase,
[or am i just being daft,as per usual]

Already capable of capturing mine from Technics 1210 to Standalone Philips CDR870.  Can then Rip the resulting CD to MP3 if required.

I had actually been thinking of getting one for my Dad (he seems to struggle with the Phillips standalone).

Haven't even looked into it, though.

guess I got into music late cos I don't own any vinyl...or cassettes for that matter.

ive got one of these, it is NOT as easy as they make out.  Firstly, its just a USB audio device as far as your pc is concerned, its just a sound input.  You have to setup the overly complex recording software to listen to it ten record it in real (or i think double) time.  THis then gives you a .wav file.  You then open that up in a sound edtior to remove pops/cracks and crop it so that you only have the song and not a load of noise before and after.  Then insert a silence before and after the song. THEN you have to download/use a .wav -> .mp3 convertor and convert the file then use an ID3 tag editor to input all the info, artist, album, track name/number etc........ Then you can do the next song!!

it takes FU*KING AGES and if you've never done any sound editing before its a bit daunting....

ah so its a ball ache..............
