Very good news imho as it would be a shame to see Cadillac going the way of Oldsmobile and Buick.  Although there is a still a lot of anti domestic feeling, especially amongst younger affluent buyers, it looks like the hard work Cadillac have been putting in to build quality, drive and marketing is starting to pay off.

The number one brand in the US in owner satisfaction in 2008 is Cadillac, according to AutoPacific's annual Vehicle Satisfaction Awards (VSA) study.

This study is based solely on the opinions of actual new vehicle owners rating their new 2008 models. AutoPacific adds no "3rd party" opinion to the owner survey results, which are grouped into 28 car and truck segments.

Cadillac's overall win stems from the Escalade, Escalade EXT, the new CTS sport sedan and the DTS luxury sedan each winning the title as "most satisfying" in their individual market segments. Across all segments in the study, no auto brand (including BMW, Lexus, Mercedes and the others) was rated as highly by consumers as Cadillac.

cant be any worse than the brand new ford 500 i saw on friday.. shocking was too mild a word to describe the fit and finish..

cadillacs biggest problem is going to be their image, imported good carry a lot of kudos in the US, and with the young executive market cadillac are gunning for, i dont think the badge can cut it against BMW Audi and Jaguar.

I would agree except the previous generation CTS made great inroads into the youth market and to be honest that version was bargain basement looking inside (not the usual bad yank build quality, just, well, lots of black plastic).

The new CTS has been getting rave reviews in the mags for fit quality, style and driving experience.  It's an important car for Cadillac and it seems to be working.  Of course no car is going to over turn years of bad image, but if they keep it up they're heading in the right direction.  They need to capture the hearts and minds of the late teens through mid 30s people that way they have them for life.  The CTS-V is a nice halo car too, trouncing the M5 which is important as "sports is an image associated with European prestige cars, not domestic ones.

Jaguar is toast in the USA.  I saw 3 in total when I was in LA and that's where the money is.  The problem Jaguar have is one of image when it comes to the younger generation.  Cadillac almost went under in the late 80s/early 90s but were saved by the Northstar engine which led to the magazines calling the STS the hotrod Cadillac as it produced more HP per Litre than even the European V8s and (for Cadillac) had firmed up suspension.  Unfortunately the platform was FWD which was never going to make a drivers car but the latest platforms are turning to RWD and AWD and the big three have finally realised that interiors are very important and are finally pulling their fingers out (some moreso than others).

bad images can be reversed, and very quickly, cadillac needs to look at what skoda managed to see how it should be done.

Dont know about quickly, it cost VAG group alot of money who invested in a huge campaign that is still in progress today in an attempt to change the perception of their reputation that was destroying their brand image..
