The front brake pads are just about shot on the daily driver Panda, might have hoped for a little more than 35k but management does drive it like she stole it
I rang Fiat for a laugh and they quoted £128 just for the pads
So it'll be next best pattern parts then, the trouble is always getting the correct pads and I hate getting something apart and finding I've got the wrong parts

So here is  todays top tip

Pop the caliper off ( about 15 minutes work ) , take a piece of paper and draw around the existing pad, also take a couple of pictures.

Go to parts shop and order the pads, when you pick them up, you can easily check to see if they are the correct ones by laying them over your template and checking the photo's

Ain't much life left in the front discs either

Roadkill

Either that or use a parts supplier who know what they're talking about.

Not quite that easy with a Fiat, they have four different makes of caliper fitted to 06 models and I ain't paying £128 for small pads like this

Well another 900 miles has passed under the Panda's wheels, mostly around the M25 & M40, #
so time to get those pads changed and do a brake fluid change and
because it's doing another 1K miles next week

The old gal has been squealing a bit when the brakes get hot,
so I painted some red anti-squeal paint on. Dam clever stuff,
it dries into hard but rubbery ridges

Yah, that or copper grease seems to work for those annoying brakes.  I looked into it and apparently its when the pad is slightly smaller than an OEM pad so vibrates at a very high frequency under light braking, hence the squeel..  Looks good

I see in this picture your dipstick oil pump.  Is it any good?  Im thinking of getting one to save the hassle of having to take off the lower engine cover then undoing the sump bolt etc etc on the Mondeo...

Yes & No

Once set up correctly it sucks like a good un, but any sort of oil has to be really hot and thin, otherwise it takes ages
I quite often just connect it to the compressor and leave it to do it's thing, it's the dog's danglies for bleeding brake systems

After 108 miles this afternoon with plenty of stop/start on the M1, I'd say the new pads have been bedded in
