The old track rod with old very worn ends on - the joints on the end were totally shot - the new ones moved round fine with no noise / jolts but these were grinding and had notches in so didn't move smoothly at all!

Got all but the idler arms done on the Saturday and it went in for MOT this morning - annoyingly it failed...thankfully nothing too major...
Ball Joints (Lower) worn
Idler arms worn

So we already have the idler arms, just got to sort them and the ball joints and it be all sorted then - trouble is the bloody ball joints are press in so gorra strip the arms off, take em somewhere, get old ones pressed out and new ones pressed it....

Plan is for this weekend to sort the rear brakes (they need adjusting / sorting as they have a tendancy to bind at the mo), fit the idler arms, get teh lower ball joints sorted and then to get it re-mot'd asap...

Roadkill

Hahaha !

Yeah, those brakes were utterly F*CKED !!

I was just about to mention that.  You shouldn't need to remove the arms completely if you have the tools to hand.

Nah it wans't that bad - the brakes still worked and it drove OK just a bit of slack in the steering and a bit bias towards the front pads as rears were doing nuffin!!!

You could say that lol!

Roadkill

It would be handy doing the Ball Joints on the truck as opposed to removing the A-arms as we won't have to tackle the lower control arm bolts - I can see those being great fun.

ianjpage

Well further big thanks to dean for more assistance today - have now changed over the Idler arms for the new ones and fully adjusted the rear brakes up so they aren't binding and are working uber perfect.

All that is left to do now in readyness for the re-MOT is to change the ball joints on monday (as although USAutos had them in stock today - they couldn't bloody find them so have to go back monday!)

Pics to follow....
