Generator exhaust needed

Looking ahead for the new season I've decided that I need to fabricate (or bodge) an exhaust for the propane generator on the lorry. For those that have never heard it running , its a very loud clack-clack-clack noise which is not only off putting when trying to work in the pits but also gives you a headache. It is LOUD

So I need to look at fabricating an exhaust pipe that runs to the back of the lorry (the genny is welded under the side)

It needs to be:

a) simple to bolt on when needed
b) easy to remove and stow away when in transit
c) must reduce sound levels significantly
d) needs to look reasonably professional

Anyone with fabrication/exhaust/sound deadening experience fancy giving me advice or help please feel free to offer it

could you not plumb into the truck exhaust and make use of the muffler ?

Maybe look here - http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/jetexcustomexhaustparts.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">http://www.jetex.co.uk/website/jetexcustomexhaustparts.php - they sell bolt-together exhaust parts.

I'm probably going to use them to mock up the first exhaust on the 'Maro when the headers are on.

They do mild and stainless, too.

Quick responses as usual. MKB

Hmm, thats a good idea, although pipework might be a bit convoluted to get around the back of the genny and back to the muffler

have the right range of parts to make it work, I wonder if it would cause any problems having a 1.75" pipe, I think the existing outlet is only about an 1"

I wouldn't think so.

Firstly the noise would certainly be reduced in the larger diameter pipe.

The only other issue is lack of back-pressure effecting the running but the genny is likely to have its necessary required amount of 1" pipe to maintain this - anything after that is irrelavant.

there may be an issue with the back pressure created by the truck mufflers,i assume they will be pretty huoooge...?
This forum needs, ''YOU'' posting,Not just reading ! :moon:

Agree with the back pressure issue,  suspect it will be ok to add to the pipe, the only problem might occur if i took that bit away. I might need a little manifold making up to adapt the new pipe to the old but the rest should be simple enough.
