Its almost sexual huh?

Nothing "Ratty" floats my boat, it just tells me that they don't have the skill or money to do a proper job

On the plus side at least it's not matt black

Obviously skill wasn't the issue, there, judging by the work.  I'd also like to guess that money wasn't an issue either.

What it tells me is that, regardless of skill level or income, these guys wanted to build that Rod like that.  And that's exactly what they did.

Assuming lack of know-how and / or lack of funding is obviously a little obtuse.

"Rat" is a lifestyle choice as much as it is a style of car or truck - or bike for that matter.

It's cool.  Not only that - it's cool without being pretty - that just makes it even cooler in my books.

Gator

ratty takes as much skill as anything else and some extra ones as well, its got to look just right too much either way and it will look a mess

im with Dean they are fantastic id love one

EDGE

+1... they're lovely, its more than just a car when its like that....

I'd rather have something with some character than something clinical....

Cunning Plan

Totally guys, glad you 'get' it (I knew FB wouldnt - you like higher levels of cleanness above and beyond what NASA can do - which isnt a bad thing).

Being involved with the vdub scene there is alot of Rat around and it really gets me off. I mean, I seriously like concourse, original examples of things but something rat isnt just someone who couldnt be bothered to prep it properly for paint, its showing character, history, experience of the vehicle - its almost like a museum on wheels. I could look at a ratty for ages and you still wouldnt spot everything there is to spot - all the stickers, areal ball, pin-striping to name a few..

RK is right, Rat isnt that easially achieved, you cant just abuse a vehicle and call it rat. It has to be done just right or it looks a mess..

Here's a few good dub examples for the fan of the rat out there..

BRILLIANT picture.

the pickup doesn't do it for me, its so low it looks ridiculous, like someone just placed the wheels next to it To me it looks broken and dosjointed - nothing flows.  I half expected coco the clown to get out of it

perhaps predictably, i have to agree with Martyn - the rat rod look just looks like a cop out to me, i'll never be convinced it takes as much skill to build as a chip foose style car.

i should point out, that is merely my opinion, each to their own, but its not for me

Gator

i agree its too low, that doesnt really do it for me coz it just makes it a chore to drive

but imagine turning up for a 1st date in that or a family wedding

Well - that's time saved later, then.

If she doesn't respect my ride, she can F*ck off and walk as far as I'm concerned.

Gator

let the girls drive camaros

EDGE

I think if youre in to that scene there are a lot if girls that love those cars too. Just like if your a kevin and drive a full kev'd up spaxo you'll easily pull a kevina. Same as these. If your in to that scene you'll probably end up with a suitable bird that will love the car.

So in short. That's a BS argument :)

I wonder if Jimmy Shine has ever been accused of being 'not skilled enough to make a Foose style car' ???

You can hide a world of sins under paint (and filler) - try building a 70-year old Hot Rod then "forgetting" to paint it.

Now that, my friends, takes cahooners as well as skill.

Well it's pretty obvious that I just don't get it

But it would be a boring world if we all drove Ford Escorts & drank the same beer.

Each to their own
